The Korean Breast Cancer Society (KBCS) was established on November 13, 1996, as the Breast Cancer Research Group, with the mission of promoting public health, advancing research, and facilitating the exchange of knowledge in the fields of breast cancer and breast diseases. Building on this foundation, the Society has fostered academic collaboration, strengthened professional fellowship among its members, and pursued active partnerships with related national and international societies. In recognition of its growth and expanded role, it was formally reorganized as the Korean Breast Cancer Society on June 19, 1999.
